WINGS Staff Interview- Rebecca Soragni

WINGS Staff Interview- Rebecca Soragni

This is the first in a series of interviews with the WINGS staff team. It will give you the opportunity to let you know a bit more about them and the work that they do. First up is Rebecca Soragni. You can see profiles of all the staff here.

1) What is your role?

I am the Administrative Coordinator. I joined WINGS in 2013 as the Admin Assistant and then after less than 6 months I was promoted to be the Admin Coordinator giving me more responsibilities inside the organization.

2) How did you end up working at WINGS?

I started working for the non-profit sector in 2007 for an NGO based in London, focused on improving the life of lonely and isolated older people around the UK. I moved to Brazil In 2012 and decided to focus my job search in this sector as I could not see myself working for big corporations. I was then offered a temporary position in a local NGO based in Sao Paulo supporting a 3 month project in public schools and in the meantime I came across the WINGS job advert, applied and was successfully selected to cover a permanent role.

3) What are you working on at the moment?

At the moment I am working on finalizing audits and preparing materials for the upcoming Board meeting in September. My position also involves daily tasks such as making sure of the functionality of the office, this is something I follow up quite closely at the moment as we just moved our office one month ago.

4) What is your favourite thing about your job?

I like the idea of working for a global network, WINGS offered me the chance to learn about other aspects of the non-profit sector such as philanthropy infrastructure whereas before I mainly had working experiences in project based NGOs. I really enjoy attending Board meetings, they are a great opportunity to meet our Board Directors personally, be part of the discussions and learn from them. Another enjoyable part is WINGSForum, even if it is an event that happens only every 3 years. I had the chance to attend both the one in Istanbul and the most recent one in Mexico City so far and they have both been rewarding experiences and great opportunities to meet the WINGS network.

5) What is an inspiring quote that you would like to share?

You must be the change you wish to see in the world (Gandhi)
