A Time of Transition at WINGS

Dear members and partners,

After five years with WINGS, Helena Monteiro has decided to step down from her role of Executive Director.

Helena has served as our Executive Director since January 2011 and we accept her resignation with reluctance.  Under her leadership, WINGS has developed into a significant force in the global philanthropy space.  We are very proud of the high regard in which WINGS is held, and the impact we know we have on bringing together a uniquely diverse and inclusive network of philanthropy infrastructure organizations.

When presenting her resignation to the Board of Directors Helena said:  “After five intense and wonderful years as Executive Director of WINGS, I have decided to step down.  I have enjoyed my time working with the Board, the staff, and the members and partners of our network.  We’ve come a long way since 2011, and I’m very proud of our accomplishments of the past 5 years.  I want to thank all of you for giving me the support and trust needed to run such an extraordinary organization and I am positive WINGS will continue to grow and serve the field.”

While we certainly understand Helena’s decision to further her career, we are very appreciative of the important role she has played at WINGS and we will miss her.

We are also fortunate that Helena has graciously given us a six month notice period to effect this.  That gives us a good window to search for a replacement.  We have formed a search committee for the new Executive Director, which will make a recommendation to the Board of Directors and the board will make the final decision.

We would like to thank you for your continued support as we embark on this challenging transition.
