Two weeks ago Yolanda made landfall in Samar, central Philippines, taking thousands of lives and causing extensive damage to crops and infrastructure. As of Friday Yolanda, the strongest tropical cyclone in recorded history, has claimed 5,209 lives and injured 23,500, with 1,600+ individuals still unaccounted for. According to reports more than four million people have been displaced (Reuters).

We recently shared efforts by Charities Aid Foundation and Give2Asia (both in the WINGS network) to help facilitate relief in the Philippines. View more disaster relief news at the Foundation Center’s Philanthropy News Digest website.
