The Role of Foundations and Civil Society

On Friday 27 September in New York, WINGS will join the United Nations Development Programme, the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, OECD netFWD and the European Foundation Centre in a conversation on how civil society and foundations can influence the next global development agenda and spur coordinated action to advance new goals. See the agenda below.

2015 marks the deadline for achieving the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, a global effort to fulfill the rights of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people. But the focus has already shifted beyond that deadline to the next generation of development priorities. As the United Nations and world leaders plan the next steps in the process, how can foundations, civil society and other key players work together to help shape a collective and inclusive vision that will ensure meaningful change?

Friday’s conversation will explore key areas where civil society, foundations, the UN, and government leaders can best collaborate to advance a new global development agenda and explore strategies for further engagement and cooperation on this process.
